Community Support Services, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to provide comprehensive behavioral health services to Summit County adults most in need of continued support so they can live as independently as possible in the community.

Who receives services?
Community Support Services serves adult residents of Summit County who either have a lengthy treatment history or who are at risk of being hospitalized due to a severe mental illness. The agency serves young adults, older adults, nursing home residents, individuals who are homeless, individuals involved in the criminal justice system and individuals who have a co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse problem.

What do the services cost?
Fees are based on income, family size, and the ability to pay. Payments are accepted from private insurance companies, Medicaid and Medicare. The agency will not refuse services due to a person's inability to pay. Services are subsidized by the County of Summit Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board.

How are services provided?
When a person comes to the agency, his or her strengths and needs are evaluated. The individual is then assigned to the appropriate treatment team. Each team is led by a psychiatrist and includes nurses, community rehabilitation specialists, as well as experts in counseling, testing, vocational and residential services. Services combine psychiatric treatment with independent life skills training with the intent of giving individuals the opportunity to live independently in the community.

Does Community Support Services accept donations?
Community Support Services appreciates all donations whether they come to the agency in dollars, goods, services and/or volunteer hours. Donations are used to advance programs that have a direct impact on the lives of individuals who could not otherwise progress on their own.
