Residential Treatment Services
Changing Lives . . . Life Changing

Community Support Services offers community integrated residential treatment facilities for persons diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illnesses that provide twenty-four supervision and support. The Residential Treatment Program is a transitional program designed to habilitate the participants to live as independently in the community as possible upon discharge. The average length of stay is between six to nine months.

Admission Process
An individual served, a psychiatrist, a family member, or another treating professional may request Residential Treatment. Admission to Residential Treatment is by referral from the CSS Treatment Team.

A standardized assessment tool (LOCUS) and clinical interview with the referred individual and the assigned Community Rehabilitation Specialist begins the process to determine if Residential Treatment Services is the best alternative for the individual.

If the individual is accepted for Residential Treatment Program, he or she is required to complete a TB test and a physical prior to admission.

Treatment Process
Upon admission, an individualized recovery plan is developed to guide the treatment the individual receives while residing at the facility.

Programming is designed to enable recovery through skills training in symptom management, meal preparation, social skill development, and self-care. Residents participate in Intensive Treatment Services programming at the main campus of Community Support Services five days per week to gain additional skills and education including illness management and wellness.

Residents are asked to complete a housing interview and survey shortly after admission to the program. This tool assists the individual and the program staff to guide the treatment process as it reviews consumer strengths, identifies potential barriers, and explores available supports. Additionally, a Community Rehabilitation Specialist is assigned to the Residential Treatment program to promote skill development. This person will provide a period of support during the transition to independent living as deemed appropriate.
